What is Vasilios Learning Institute?
The Vasilios Learning Institute is a private, tuition-free institute dedicated to serving children, with the the hopes of creating leaders that will influence and positively affecting all parts of our community. We currently offer classes needed to complete Pre-K through grade 12. Our student to teacher ratio is 8:1.
What kind of school is VLI?
Our top priority is to meet the academic needs of all youth living in Richmond and to reduce the area's drop out rate. Our dual objective is to prepare young people to be well-rounded productive citizens possessing a strong moral code with respect for themselves and their fellow man. Here at the institute we offer the courses necessary to fulfill Virginia's graduation requirements and individualized and holistic education in a safe and engaging environment for learning.
VLI's Goals
The Vasilios Learning Institute has three main goals. They are:
-To develop each student academically, beginning with their actual academic skill levels.
-To develop each student's character (work ethic, spiritual understanding, anger management, psychological development, etc.)
-To reduce the drop out rate of high school students and increase retention in Richmond schools
The Program
Enrollment will be limited to 40 students to ensure quality programming and individualized instruction. Classes will accommodate eight groups of five students that will participate in the following curriculum in 90 minute sessions:
In addition to the academic courses, students can also participate in the following:
VLI Services
-A nurse conducts an initial assessment and evaluation in order to made referrals to the appropriate sources of care (physical exam by physician, psychiatric exam by psychiatrist).
-Psychological evaluations are provided by a licensed psychologist upon referral from the program to assess intellectual, educational, personality and/or psychological functions.
-Psychiatric evaluations and medication management are provided by a psychiatrist for clients in need.

The Program

- General, standard, and college preparatory academic instruction with individual educational programs (IEP) designed for each student to suit their particular needs.
- Classes will be taught and maintained by one educational instructor that will be responsible for all academic instruction as well as one life skills counselor that will assist in monitoring student behaviors and encouraging positive habits. There is also a clinical therapist will be on staff to assist the needs of students
